Favorite to the title on both events, Junior and Cadet, the Swedish Madeleine Melcher, who is only 15 years old, is already one of the stars of the World Junior Circuit. However, her premiere at the cadet event in the Brazilian Open was a bit unusual. Madeleine won her opening match but ended up defeated on the second round by the Chilean player Blanca Duran, 3-2. Questioned about whether she was bothered with the bellow the expected result, she was straight forward:
"I don't worry about these things. I know that my game is much better than what I have presented here, during this first phase, and where I placed in the ranking, so I don't care", said the table tennis player, champion of the El Salvador Junior Open.
Madeleine is also the favorite to the title of the singles junior event and, until then, she hopes to be better technically.
"I felt that my game rhythm was a little off. I will make and effort to improve and win the championship. This is my goal".
Asked about the fact that she is the player everyone wants to win from, Madeleine once more chose harsh words like her game style at the table.
"My focus is the table, my game and not my opponent. I don't care not even a little bit about that", declared her.
Melcher has been playing table tennis since she was 4 years old and is for the first time in
"I like traveling and getting to know new countries. I want to be a professional table tennis play and for that I need to stay a long time away from home. It's ok, though, it's part of the job", commented her.
