The Brazilian stage of the World Junior Table Tennis Circuit begins this Thursday, 9/8, and the main stars of the competition that gathers table tennis players younger than 18 years old have already confirmed their presence. Amongst the Brazilian players are Efraim Carvalho and Mariany Nonaka. Besides Brazil, athletes from Argentina, Canada, Chile, Colombia, El Salvador, Mexico, Sweden, United States, Cuba, Ecuador, France, Portugal, Russia and Spain have also confirmed that they will be on the dispute. The Brazilian Open goes on until the 11th of September.

In addition to Efraim Carvalho and Mariany Nonaka, all the champion players that competed at the Latin American Championship, which took place in El Salvador in August, will take part in the international event in Guaruja. Mariany Nonaka represented Brazil on the last edition of the Olympic Games in Athens. Efraim Carvalho is in 8th place on the ranking of the International Table Tennis Federation and is very close to nailing a place in the Grand Finals, event that gathers the 12 best table tennis players under 18 of the year, in the Dominican Republic.

Besides the disputes at the tables, two courses will be held by the Brazilian Table Tennis Confederation: a workshop to update the umpires and the State General Umpire. Two meeting with the coaching and umpire committees are also scheduled.

"Our plan is to make the best of the structure that already exists, to promote these courses and meetings. The Brazilian Table Tennis Confederation wants to render capable and involve the largest number of participants as possible", said José Zipperer Jr., events' coordinator of CBTM.
