After 5 days, hundreds of games and more than 350 athletes competing at Florianopolis, Santa Catarina, the Brazilian Championship had a great ending last sunday. The Rating A Male Category's final was emotive and technically great.

Thiago Monteiro had a spectacular victory. Hugo Hoyama lost the Gold Medal after winning three sets ahead. The score was 4 X 3. At least 200 people watched the high level game with the greatest athletes of the National Table Tennis.

Hoyama started playing very well. When the score was 3 X 0 for him(11-9, 11-8, 11-9), Thiago didn't give up and gained the next four sets (11-9, 11 X 4, 11-6, 11-9) "It's hard to loose like this because, in the start, I played very well", pointed Hugo Hoyama. "I had victory possibilities until the fourth set. I made mistakes after that and Thiago used his advantage".

Thiago Monteiro couldn't believe when the game was finished. He conquered a impossible victory in one of the greatest finals ever seen in the sport. "It is a pleasure to play with Hoyama. I don't know from where I took forces to win this match", Thiago said. He had to change his game style of game to achieve his goal. "He was quick and very offensive, so I played a bit slower".
