KARIN AND MARIANY ARE ALSO THE DOUBLES CHAMPION

The winning partners of the team tournament held in the morning kept their good performances in the doubles tournament that took place this Tuesday afternoon, conquering the second consecutive title of the day. This time: the doubles event of the Latin Cup.

 

Once more the Brazilian players Mariany Nonaka and Karin Sako have shown that they are very well acquainted to each other and, after winning well the team tournament, they kept the good performance nailing the title of the doubles tournament. In the first round Karin and Mariany won without many complications the other Brazilian double Livia Mizobucho and Karin Fukushima by 3 sets to 0 (11-6, 11-3 and 11-3).

 

In the semifinals they overcame another Brazilian double. In a thrilling match that was won turning the score over after losing 2 sets to 0 to the double Kim Inokuchi and Esther Novalo (7-11, 6-11, 11-7, 11-4 and 11-8).

 

In the final, they overcame yet another Brazilian double that went passed them. Mariany and Karin  played the final against Lais Hasegava and Patricia Raboni and in a exciting game, the decision happened in the decisive fifth set 11-5, 7-11, 9-11, 11-8 and 18-16). 

 

In the boys' double tournament, the French won the two categories once more.

 

In the cadet event Jean Gregoire and Michael Samouillan was in bye and went to the semifinal against the Brazilian players Lucas Tatani and Fernando Yamazato, winning 3 sets to 1 (11-8, 11-7, 9-11 and 11-8). Following that they went to the final against the Brazilian double José Barbosa and Paulo Rocha, repeating the thrilling match between both doubles in the team tournament. Once again France was the better team, winning 3 sets to 2 (11-4, 7-11, 11-13, 11-5 and 14-12).

 

In the boys' Junior the victory also went to France. The double Clement Drop and Pierre Bezard proved their superiority and beat in the semifinal the Brazilian players Daniel Costa and Humberto Manhani by 3 sets to 1 (8-11, 11-4, 12-10 and 11-4). The final was played against the double composed by the Colombian player Juan Restrepo and Cuba's Andy Pereira, which the French won 3-1 (10-12, 11-9, 11-4 and 12-10). Andy was the doubles' champion of the Brazilian Junior Open.
