The Brazilian number 1 player has just said goodbye to the singles tournament of the Brazilian Junior Open. Mariany Nonaka was eliminated in the round of sixteen by the Swedish player Madeleine Melcher by 4 - 2.
After partials of 11-7, 13-11, 6-11, 11-13, 8-11 and 10-12, Mariany was overcome after a tight dispute with Madeleine Melcher. This was the second confrontation between the two players. In the El Salvador Open, Madeleine won 4-0.
Mariany started very well in the match, imposing her game style over Madeleine. However, after losing the third set, the Brazilian also lost her mind and, when she kicked the small ball away from the match area she was warned with a yellow card. At the end of the fourth set, when Madeleine evened the score 2-2, Mariany lost her patience one again and was warned by the umpires once more. At the fifth set, Mariany went in with 1 point less as a punishment.
Madeleine Melcher took in her advantage the terrible psychological moment that her adversary was and, with a few lucky moves, won the game.
Questioned about what her thought were on eliminating the best Brazilian player, Madeleine was blunt:
"I like winning from the best. I feel very well physically and I hope to keep on winning through the finals", said her.
Mariany Nonaka was very upset about the defeat and left in silence the gymnasium.
