KARIN FUKUSHIMA, BRAZIL'S GOLDEN GIRL

At 13 years old the table tennis player Karin Fukushima managed the greatest achievement of could get in the Brazilian Junior Open that is being disputed in Guarujá. Karin was the only athlete of the Brazilian delegation to win a gold medal in the singles' event.

 

Karin, who was very shy during her first interview to the CBTM's website, said that she was very happy with the victory of 3 sets 1 against Estefania Ramirios from El Salvador.

 

"It is a very important title for my career, which is only beginning", said Karin, who didn't feel the pressure for facing a foreign adversary in the final.

 

"I have to get use to it now. To me it is like any opponent", stated her.

 

Quick to give answers, Karin showed in the decision that she is also quick at the table. With partials of 12-10, 8-11, 11-5 and 11-8, she didn't give a chance for her adversary to react. For the next years there is only one certainty:

 

"This is my first season as a cadet player and it is a long path to the adults' category. I want to play for many years to come and get a place in the national team".
