INTERVIEW: NATIONAL TEAM'S PHYSICAL TRAINNER

Por CBTM

11/11/2005 15h09

CBTM: Which athlete has the greatest physical conditional?

Renato Tenguan: The best are Karin Sako and Claude Ikeizumi in Female category. In Male, Reinaldo Yamamoto and Gustavo Tsuboi. Players who live in Europe are not included in this scout as Hugo Hanashiro, that possess an excellent physical preparation besides not being a national team's player.

CBTM: What does a Table Tennis player needs to be in shape for the game?

Renato Tenguan: It must be clear: to be in physical form does not necessarily mean that someone is lean or fat. For example: Reinaldo Yamamoto possesses a certain problem of weight, however, his tests results were the better ones.

CBTM: But results are no better if the athlete gets thinner?

Renato Tenguan: Generally, yes. If Reinaldo had a lower percentage of fat, he certainly would have one of the best physical conditionings because he obtains excellent results besides being a little above the ideal weight and corporal fat.

CBTM: Is there a relation between weight and height for an athlete's healthier condition?

Renato Tenguan: It is difficult to say because there are not many studies on the subject. Weight is very relative. It can be muscle, and it is more weighed than fat.

CBTM: When it will be the next physical test?

Renato Tenguan: It will be determined with the University of São Paulo because we only need to finish some tests with athletes of the Top Brazil and Top Europe projects.
