THE LITTLE CHILEAN GIANT

At 13 years old he is respected inside and outside the tables' court. The Chilean player Matias Contreras didn't qualify for the final round of the cadet event of the Brazilian Open, but has become one of the most memorable figures of the tournament. Talking like a football player, with a cliché speech, Matias squandered leadership and personality.

"I don't want to be just another one in the circuit. Chile has record of only going to the World Championships only to participate. I think it is time to, little by little, start to win", said the table tennis player.

This Thursday, Matias had to perform like a coach, since the actual one had to leave for a while due to an injury of another athlete.

"They listen to me because someone who is looking from the outside always has something to add. It wasn't the first time and whenever the coach needs me I'll be ready to help", explained him.

The young player also believes that the Latinos lack the coolness of the European.

"We have to learn that every match starts 0-0 and there is a 50% to each side to win", reasoned him.
